If you use this to charge your phone, will it still light up? If so, for how long? Could you do a partial charge of the phone? 

Yes,this solar work light could stay light up while you're charging your cell phone.We could not tell you how long it will stay up because it depends on what cell phone you're using and how much battery is remaining.We must point out that the battery capacity is 2400 mAh so it only could be used as a emergency power backup for your phone.

How do you know when the lantern has been fully charged by the sun or USB?
-- Green light

How bright is this lantern and how long to charge? 
-- The brightness is up to 300 LM , it takes about 4 hours to full charge via adapter but we could not tell you the exact time via solar charging because it count on the factor like weather,light intensity etc.

Is it possible to change the build in battery?
-- I don't think so. They didn't build it with access to the battery, so if you were to try to change it, it would be rather difficult

Will it be okay if it gets rained on?
-- yes no worries.IP65 means water-proof and dust-proof.
