The Makita 18V cordless job site fan with LED work light (model GD-X40-M) is a powerful and portable solution for painters, contractors, and more. The GD-X40-M has two settings for optimal air Velocity control. It can be powered by Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries, or an AC adapter. 

The durable design and protective bumpers are engineered to withstand a job site environment. It's part of expanding universal 18V Makita system, a cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls . Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool fan & light can also be powered by Makita 21V and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol on the battery indicating Star protection inside.

Question:What is the difference with this model(GD-X40-M) and the GD-X40 ?
Answer: This model is a power tool version compatible for 18V-21V power tool batteries. GD-X40 is rechargeable type with built-in 14400mAh lithium-ion battery.

Question:is it brushless DC motor?
Answer:Yes.

Answer:DC motor

Question:How do you keep the front and back grill clean?
Answer:I struggle with this too as I do with other fans that I own. The only thing I know to do is use a brush but I know that does not clean it completely. If you know how to take it apart & put it back together safely, that could be an option.
